ResFrac’s layer-cake static model provides an efficient framework for defining formation properties, but real reservoirs are heterogeneous. The ’general heterogeneity’ option allows you to introduce spatial variability without the complexity of a full 3D grid import. This document reviews how to set up the general heterogeneity file for ResFrac simulations.
Heterogeneity is enabled by selecting the ’general heterogeneity’ option in the Static Model and Initial Conditions tab. Once activated, property variations can be specified across the model domain, allowing fracture propagation and production behavior to respond realistically to local changes in rock properties.
